Vivo S5: Specifications and Features Vivo has been aggressively launching new smartphones in both China and India to take on the competition. The latest launch from Vivo in China is the Vivo S5 and it’s a mid-range smartphone in the world’s largest smartphone market. As for the display, the Vivo S5 rocks a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED display on the front and there’s a 3mm punch-hole on the top right side of the screen. Notably, this is the smallest hole we’ve seen on any smartphone till date. According to Vivo, the S5 offers 91.8% screen-to-body ratio and the display is even HDR10 ready. The handset will be available in three colour options- Ice White, Phantom Blue and Star Black. Underneath, the Vivo S5 comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset, clubbed with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The handset also has a microSD card for storage expansion up to 512GB. The phone runs Android 9 Pie-based FunTouch OS 9.2 out of the box. Connectivity options on the Vivo S5 include Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a USB Type-C port is located on the bottom side. Vivo has added an in-display fingerprint scanner to the Vivo S5. Moving onto the cameras, the Vivo S5 offers quad-camera setup on the back with a primary 48MP lens. The camera configuration on the Vivio S5 includes 48MP primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture, 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 5MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. Upfront, the Vivo S5 includes a 32MP shooter for capturing selfies and video calls. The phone has a 4100mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging technology. Vivo S5: Pricing and Availability Vivo has announced the Vivo S5 in two variants- 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB, priced at 2699 Yuan (approx. Rs 27,650) and 2998 Yuan (approx. Rs 30,700), respectively. In China, the Vivo S5 will be available for purchase starting November 22 and it’s currently up for preorder. Vivo may even launch the S5 in the Indian market, considering the company already brought the Vivo S1 to the Indian market. As mentioned above, the Vivo ‘S’ series in India is aimed at the offline market, so don’t expect the Vivo S5 to retail under Rs 20,000 when it reaches the country.
