Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reached out to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for communicating that it intends to roll out a fresh 4G tender for 50,000 sites across India. The telco is aiming for a hybrid 4G plan where it wants to divide the tender into two parts. The first part with 57,000 sites will be reserved for the Indian companies, and the other 50,000 sites will be a standard tender upon which any of the companies in the government’s ‘trusted’ list can participate....

According to the official, DoT has standby funds ready for any financial exigencies in BSNL till June on account of salary payment or network maintenance front. DoT is yet to get approval for the Rs 6,535 crore VRS package and for the land monetisation exercise. BSNL Launches New Portal for Registering to Commercial Services Telecom operators are always against providing commercial services to their customers if they are not registered with the telecom operator. In accordance with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s guidelines named TCCCPR 2018, BSNL users are not allowed to make any commercial call or SMS using their mobile or landline number. “Such unauthorised use may lead to usage restriction or blacklisting,” said the telecom operator in a press release....

Declaring to end the looting of the cable mafia, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi announced on Monday to fix the monthly rate of cable connection at Rs 100. Minister said that the cable mafia is harassing the people of Punjab by levying hefty charges, and the state would not tolerate it anymore. “Government would take strict actions against those who defy the rules,” he added. Capping at Rs. 100 for cable connection not feasible, says cable operators According to an HT report, in response to the announcement, cable service providers across the state called for a state-wide emergency meeting and concluded that the new capping at Rs 100 is unfeasible....
